Pupils also attended a number of classroom based workshops during the three day camp which aimed to develop their mental and social skills including leadership and communication.
This extended to pupils hosting a mock press conference where they posed as members of the Manchester United management staff, Louis Van Gaal and Ryan Giggs and star players Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick. The pupils were asked a number of questions by the ‘press pack’ as to how they would combat the threat of Lionel Messi in a fictional UEFA Champions League match.
The camp concluded yesterday with all of the pupils receiving a medal and certificate as acknowledgment of their time at the camp.
Feedback from some of the parents of pupils who attended included:
“Determined coaches with a good attitude so the players could enjoy their football and at the same time learn new skills.”
“My son said he has learnt a lot of new tactics. He was very happy to learn new skills that his normal football coach hasn’t taught him.”
“Very well organised coaches and support staff. Very attentive. Extremely good.”
“My daughter has learnt new skills and not just football but diet and general health. She has learnt not to give up, to have more confidence and to accept a challenge.”
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Manchester United Soccer Schools association for choosing to host their camp at our school and we hope to see them back soon.
