The second half of term has started seamlessly and we have the great pleasure of warmly welcoming 30 new students and their parents to our school community over the course of the month of February. As a result at the end of the month, the numbers on roll here at BISS Puxi will be the highest in the school’s history and consequently we are full in a couple of year groups, and close to full in a couple more. All of which is evidence of the great work that the staff are doing day in and day out and the resultant on-going enhancement of the school’s reputation.
The remaining six weeks of this term promise to be every bit as busy and action-packed as the rest of the school year with a variety of exciting experiences both inside and outside the classroom. Preparations are very well advanced for the senior play “The Threepenny Opera” which will be performed in the Auditorium 1-3 March. We also have two very important and impactful themed weeks coming up with Maths Week this month and International Week at the end of term.
Our focus on academic achievement remains strong across the year groups, but has a particular sharpness for those students in Years 10, 11 and 13 who are preparing for public exams in May and June. The usual programme of extra support and revision directed by staff is in place for students in the midst of these preparations.
Finally, could I just please remind parents about the importance of clear and timely communication with school if your son/daughter is going to be absent from school. Please remember to call or email and explain the reasons for the absence to the reception staff who are responsible for generating the daily attendance record. A failure to do this can delay the accurate completion of the registration, which may be crucial in the event of a fire or an accident on the way to school. Thank you in anticipation for your support in this matter.
I look forward to seeing many of you at the sport and music events over the weekend.
