A Busy Period for The BISS Lions Across All Sports

03 February 2016

During the weeks between the Christmas holidays and the Chinese New Year break, the PE and Sports department are usually very busy. However, I cannot remember a busier year than this one.

  • BISS Lions Swimming

With U19 football team selections finalised, the Basketball players finishing their season in Tianjin, the Swimming team competing in Thailand not to mention the multitude of U11 Netball and Rugby fixtures that have took place across the city, all age groups within the BISS Lions group have been very busy.

Last week, the U19 girls started their soccer season with a good draw away to NAIS. Trailing 1-0 at half time the girls did well to turn it around and move into a 2-1 lead. Unfortunately a late goal from NAIS meant that the spoils were shared. The team can be proud of their performance given that it was the first 11 a-side game for a number of students with a number of players having left at the end of last season. The girls coming in played with great maturity, confidence and were a credit to themselves and the school.

The goals went to Sophie Bogaard and Holly Walmesly; the latter coming from the penalty spot after Laerke Christiansen was brought down in the area. We talked before the game about strength in defence and pace up front so we were so close to coming away with a deserved victory.

The girls will be looking to keep up their good strike rate with details of the BISS Puxi Lions crossbar challenge released earlier this week.
