The Dutch Primary Students opened the event with a magnificent Scary Book Character Parade, showing off their scariest moves to Mr Nolan, Ms Peacock and Ms Samsom. Afterwards the little witches, magicians and werewolves had their courage tested by making scary snacks, discovering creepy treasures in scary sensory boxes and flying their brooms in the witch races. The Dutch IB students showed off their best storytelling skills and had the children on the edge of their seats by their terrifying monster tales.
The Dutch Secondary students were treated to a scary three course dinner. A starter with lovely cockroach and tomato soup, a main course of bloody chopped off finger- hot dogs and a cold blooded desert with a choice of ice cream or green pancakes. Prior to their desert, students split into two groups and each group was taken into a scary, spooky and creepy escape room where they could only get out by solving a number of riddles, puzzles and mathematical issues. After an hour and twenty minutes all students fortunately found their way out and enjoyed their well-deserved desserts.
A big thank you to all our wonderful parents who helped to make this a memorable event for all the students. The Dutch students will be reading their way through more scary stories the coming weeks in order to complete the Shanghai Dutch School Book Bingo Challenge. In order to succeed, you must read!
