Soloist Recital

16 June 2017

At the end of a very busy year and after a full day of school, over 60 students built up the energy to perform at our termly soloist recitals. Even though the weather outside was miserable, the audience and performers were full of smiles due to the fantastic talent that was on display.

This term we saw performances on a huge range of instruments, including the cello, clarinet, trumpet, marimba and a guzheng, a traditional Chinese instrument. We also had one student, Matthew Yick in year 5 who even accompanied himself using a prerecorded video as his accompaniment. Even the bow was in sync! It was also a real treat to hear so many secondary perform, acting as role models to the younger students.

A true highlight, however, was our first ever dance performance. Betty and Chris skim in year 4 and year 1 dazzled the audience with their costumes and dance moves to Uptown Funk. As part of our Juilliard collaboration we are continually trying to promote all the performing arts at BISS and this was a great example of what talented performers we have across all disciplines.

As always congratulations to all the students who had clearly practised so hard and gave up their time to brighten up the audience's day.
