Film & Media Trip

26 September 2017

Last week, all Film, Media Studies, Drama and Theatre students from Years 10 to13 travelled to the JinZe Art Centre to collaborate and produce a short film.

Groups were lead by Year 12 and 13 Film students who made the most of the beautiful, expansive location. This provided us with plenty of room and many inspiring and different architecture for filming in.

My group was lead by two Year 12 students and consisted mainly of students I hadn't met before. From this experience I have gained many new friends who I share a common interest with. We worked very well as a team, despite our initial personality and opinion differences. We performed the task very well and collaborated to create an interesting storyline.

Producing this film put everyone out of their comfort zone as those more comfortable in editing positions now had to direct and Drama students had to adapt to working in a new environment, as well as performing for the camera. This allowed us to progress as individuals and develop a deeper understanding of the different arts.

Overall it was a very good experience to have and believe every student on the trip has gained something from it. We look forward to seeing the finished films in a few weeks’ time!
