In Literacy the children will be learning about instruction writing. They will learn what makes a good set of instructions and then, once they have planted their seeds they will write a set of instructions explaining the process.
Puffer Fish- Phase 5- During Phonics this week, the Puffer Fish group will be learning the alternative spelling/pronunciation of ‘sh’ as in ‘ci’. We will focus on the words- social, special, official, artificial. We will also practise reading and spelling the high frequency words- shouted, us and other.
The Starfish- Phase 5- This week starfish will continue to learn about magic e and how it changes the vowel sounds. We will focus on ‘i-e’ and ‘o-e’ and compare these to previously learned sounds. The children will learn to read and spell: side, prize, like, home, alone, those.
Jelly Fish- End of Phase 3- We have ended all our Phase 3 sounds – the Jellyfish group will now revisit and recap some of the more tricky phase 3 sounds.
Stingray-Beginning of Phase 5- The Stingrays will be learning the sound oy and how it is different to oi. They will practice the spellings destroy and annoy, annoying, oyster.
Octopus- Beginning Phase 4- In the octopus phonics group we will be looking at longer words with consonant letters together such as st sp and tr. Can you spot any words with these sounds in them?
Sharks- Beginning Phase 3- Phonics sharks will be practising ‘qu’ in words like quit, quick and quiz, and also learning the sounds sh, ch and th. MATHS
During Maths lessons this week we will be focusing on time. We will be reviewing o’clock and half past the hour and will be moving onto recording the time in hours, minutes and seconds.
In our Themed Learning work we will be eagerly awaiting growth from our seeds! Now that we have learned a little about the parts of plants and what they need to grow well, we will try our hand at gardening! We will be checking our plants each day to see how they develop.
