  • Friday 26 February – Hat Day
  • Friday 26 February, please bring in NUT FREE biscuits and cakes to sell at the Year 5 Bake Sale. Please also bring a maximum of 20 Yuan to buy cakes and biscuits at the Year 6 Bake Sale.

LITERACY

The mystery in Literacy remains unresolved. There was someone knock, knocking on the door but like the poet, Walter del la Mare, Year 5 kept the identity a mystery. This week the children will continue the genre of mystery writing but with a new stimulus. Imagine packing your lunchbox in the morning only to find that at lunchtime all of your food has been replaced with something different. That’s the mystery one of the characters finds themself in and is convinced that they are in possession of a magical lunchbox.

MATHS

As part of Maths Week we will be working in small groups to show our processes and understanding of a problem.  We will record our learning journey, including all operations and methods, outlining our reasoning on our Ipads.  We will then create an IMovie so that we can send it across to another school in the Nord Anglia family so that they can give us feedback on our methods and processes!

THEMED LEARNING

During Themed Learning this week we will be doing additional Maths activities that link to our exciting Maths Week program. The children will be teaching Year 1 children some new mathematical concepts. They will also be taking part in a variety of whole school challenges that will be set up around the school. In addition, the children will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of challenges set up in the estimation and challenge zones! It looks to be a very exciting week!
