ECA/BISCAP/BISSLIONS Swimming Term 2: will start the week commencing 11 January.

MESSAGES

  • As many of you may be returning home for the Chirstmas vacation we would like to inform you about future dressing up days. This may give you an opportunity to purchase any clothes for these special events. On Friday 25 March we will have the International Day parade. Children will have the opportunity to dress in their national costumes or in the colours of their home country. In Term 3 we will also have a special Space day which will link to our Themed Learning topic. Children will be able to dress up in a costume that is related to the theme of space!
  • Uniform:  Now that it is colder in the mornings please remember that children should not be wearing leggings, boots or hoodies.  They should be wearing school jumpers/cardigans/fleeces and NOT non-uniform versions.  Information is available on the Primary Parent Handbook on the website.

LITERACY

In our first week of Literacy we will be reviewing the Global Campus writing competition set for homework on 2nd December. Children were asked to write a story on the theme of ‘Be Ambitious’. We will be sharing the childrens’stories and reviewing and improving them in class. We will make final drafts in time for the competition deadline on 15th January.

MATHS

In our first week of Maths we will be reviewing and revising our operations of addition and subtraction.  We will revisit the methods used for numbers up to 5 digits, discussing our approaches and feedback on the precision outcomes.  We will also review our times-table developments.

THEMED LEARNING

This term our new Themed Learning topic is the Silk Road. The children  will start to learn about this important trade route. They will begin a knowledge harvest by sharing what they already know about this topic and willask questions about what they want to find out over the course of this term. In our Art lessons we will also begin to create Silk paintings using watercolour paints.

PSHCE

In PSHCE this week we will focus further on fostering new relationships, creating rules and expectations for the group and how to work together successfully.  We will reflect on what we achieved last term and discuss new personal targtes for the term ahead. We will also welcome some new children to Year 5 and will discuss how we can be helpful in settling them into their new school.

DUTCH

Koken, bakken, braden...
