- Save the date: Nursery Christmas Show Thursday 7 December.
- Save the date: Christmas Party Wednesday 13 December.
- Children who are ill need to be at home to recover as we cannot care for sick children in school and do not want illness to spread to the others. Please see our school policy for these common occurences:
-Diarrhoea (2 or more episodes in 24h that is new or unusual): Stay home for 48 hours since the last episode.
-Vomiting (more than 2 times and/or occurring with fever): Stay home for 48 hours since the last episode of vomiting
-Vomiting (1 isolated occurrence without fever): Stay home for 24 hours since vomiting
-Fever (temperature equal to or more than 37.6 degrees celsius): Stay home 24 hours after the pupil is found fever free without intake of fever lowering medication
If your child is ill, please let your child’s teacher know and also whether the illness is contagious or not.
- Please remember we are a nut free school, this means you may not send any nut products at all to school at any time, this includes Nutella, snack bars that contain nuts, nut butters, nut oils or nuts.
- ATTENTION When collecting your child at the end of the day, it would be helpful and more secure if parents could stand further back from the door. This allows children to leave more safely and for teachers to recognise parents more easily.
FOXES AND PANTHERS
Rehearsals for the Christmas Show are well under way. The children have been practising their songs and any extra help you can give at home would be greatly appreciated (links attached). This week the children will make their own costumes for the show using a variety of materials. There will be lots of painting and sprinkling glitter going on!
On Friday, the children will watch the dress rehearsal of the Reception children’s Christmas Show. This will give our Nursery children an idea of what to expect when they perform.
The children are very much still interested in our pet theme so we will also continue with our ‘Pet Shop’ for the children to play in.
This year we will also sing some songs in Mandarin and the children will practise these throughout the week with our Mandarin teachers.

MEERKAT AND WOLF CLASS
Preparations for Christmas are well underway in the Meerkat and Wolf Cub classes. As well as learning the songs and actions, pupils have started to make parts of their costumes for the upcoming show. Information regarding what children should wear has started to be given out, please check communication books for further information. We have started to decorate our classes for the celebration, developing childrens’ understanding of the concept of Christmas. If you and your child happen to see some decorations when you are out and about, take time to talk to them about what they see.
Following the children’s interest in cooking, we have our trip planned to the local bakery on Monday and Tuesday (27th/ 28th December). At the bakery, children will have the opportunity to see how bread is made, relating their own experience within school to the world of work. Aspects of health and safety will also be discussed e.g. handwashing, taking care when things are hot etc. We will also take this chance to talk about road safety with the children, to be mindful of their surroundings when outside school while being well supported by staff and parental volunteers.
Within school, pupils are continuing to learn about weight, capacity and volume and will have opportunities to experiment and develop their understanding of these concepts. We will also have more opportunities to use the new cooking equipment to bake some delicious Christmas treats.
