Week Beginning 13 February 2017

  • Children can participate in our weekly swimming lessons once they are toilet trained, and we have many children now enjoying this weekly experience.  If your child is ready for swimming, please send a swimming kit each Wednesday.  This should include a swimsuit, swimhat, towel and goggles.
  • Parent teacher conferences are coming up soon, please return your form requesting an appointment time as soon as possible.

There will be many activities and learning opportunities on offer in the different classrooms this week, based on ideas taken from the children’s interests.  This week this will include working with sea animal themes and water, ambulances, daily routines and a continuation of the dinosaur topic.  These ideas stem from what we worked with last week and embrace new ideas that the children have shown an interest in.  The children will use these themes to flavour their work both inside and out, with art, creative and imaginative play, contruction and water play.  As always the children will be free to explore the different themes on offer in all the classrooms.

Wet and dry, siren, emergency, day and night

Counting and working with numbers often informs much of our conversations with children as we work and play together.  This week we will focus more on how we can use the children’s play within our multiple topics to facilitate and extend understanding of numbers and counting.  Children will be exposed to counting and recognising numerals.

Count, numbers 0-10

During  Mandarin  we  will  talk  about  numbers  0-10.  We will sing some number songs  and read  number stories. We will also play some number games.
