Week Beginning 10 April 2017

Welcome back. We hope you have all had a lovely break and are feeling rested and ready for another busy term.


  • The Reception Cubs will be going to Zhudi Park on Wednesday this week. If the aweather is not good we postpone the trip and will contact all parents via email on the day.
  • The librarians are in school until 4:30 on Mondays and Tuesdays, if you want to come and borrow books, you can set up a family account.


As we will be visiting our local Park this week we will be thinking about the natural world around us. We will be inviting the children to thinking about how we can look after the world around us and why this is important. We will be thinking about materials; natural and man made and making some ‘natural art’.

We will also be talking with the children about how to stay safe on our trip and how we need to behave when we are on the bus and at the park.

We will be talking about our trip to the park, and sequencing the key events. The children will be using verbs in the past tense to talk about what they did at the park.

The children will continue to progress with their ‘Letters and Sounds’,  working with class teachers throughout the week to consolidate their phonic skills and learn new sounds as they are ready to move on. Please check your children’s phonics pack for new sounds, tricky words and common sight words to practise at home in line with their learning at school.


There is so much maths in the park! We will be supporting the children to describe some patterns they see in nature, for example the petals around a flower, or compare the heights of the trees and to use positional and directional words to talk about the route through the park, for example, along the path, over the bridge and around the pond.

We will go back to our  topic about  Spring. We will first review what we have learned- recapping flowers and baby animals.  Then we will talk about outdoor activites in Spring: flying kites, riding bikes and having picnics.

Deze week starten de peuters en de kleuters met een nieuw thema `Wat een kunst!`.  Aan de hand van het boek `De stip` buigen we ons deze week over schilderkunst.  We schilderen zwarte stippen, groene stippen, paarse  stippen... Wat is  jouw favoriete stip?
