Week Beginning 19 March 2018


  • International week:  On Monday 26 March at 8.25am you are invited to join us for International Week singing in the Primary playground.  On Thursday 29 March at 9:00am the International Parade will take place in the Primary front playground. Students are invited to wear clothing that represents their cultural heritage. If you are able, please come dressed in your national costume and cheer on. Our Chatterbox coffee shop will be open for parents to enjoy a beverage or snack.
  • The Year 4 Showcase will take place 13th April at 9:00.
  • After consultation with staff, parents and importantly pupils we have developed a series of new polices of BISS Puxi Primary. These policies include, Assessment Reporting & Recording, Behaviour, Pastoral Care (Ethos & Values), Bullying Prevention, BISS House System and Pupil VoiceLeadership. The policies are recorded on the parent portal.


This week in Literacy the students will be writing their adventure stories.  They will be using their plans from last week and will also be encouraged to include the methods of creating tension that they have been taught. Once written the students will then have time to read through, edit, and improve their stories before sharing them with each other.

Next week in Maths, Year 4 will be focusing on 2D shape. Through a range of investigation type activities, the children will explore quadrilaterals and triangles. They will learn about the properties of each shape as well as actively learning how to classify them. Furthermore, they will us their knowledge of angles to complete problem solving challenges.

Next week in theme we will be doing a science experiment all about insulation. We will learn about conduction and insulation, how to conduct a fair test and how to record our results. This is linked to thinking about how explorers would have kept warm in cold climates!

We have begun to delve into the  world ofcomputing coding and programming, and will continue this for the next few weeks. The students will learn how to control and move objects, giving the computer instructions for the objects to follow.

Wetenschap en techniek

De komende week starten we met het thema Wetenschap en techniek. We brainstormen over onderwerpen, maken een mindmap en bedenken waar we meer over willen leren binnen dit thema. We gaan met elkaar op onderzoek, gaan proefjes doen waarbij voorspellen en beschrijven van het proces centraal staat.

Year 3 / 4 French – Ms De Borger

This week`s homework will be writing a personal description of one the heroes of the comic for our `Qui est-ce?` or `Guess who?` starter.

Next week we will extend our vocabulary on personal descriptions by talking about the clothes people are wearing.

For homework this week, students are expected to complete activities on the Homework Grid and bring in next week to share with the class. 

Next week in class, students will begin to be introduced the Spanish Easter traditions. We will be revising colour vocabulary, reading a story and learning a traditional Easter song.

The students will work on a project at The Da Vinci Centre: Design an outfit using recycling materials. This will an opportunity to expand the vocabulary and talk about patterns and sizes in Spanish.

Die Hausaufgabe für diese Woche ist im Booklet auf Seite 19. Die Kinder müssen passende Verben in einen Lückentext einsetzten und sich zu sechs Verben jeweils einen Satz ausdenken.
Nächste Woche werden wir zunächst noch weiter Verben in den verschiedenen Personalformen besprechen, aber auch schon beginnen, Wörter in der Wörterliste nachzuschlagen.
