Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to share delicious food from their home country! We (the children and certainly the teachers) are greatly looking forward to the International Week Food Fair on Tuesday 28 March.
- Please be aware that the ECA/ BISCAP/Swimming programmes have now finished. The Term 3 programme will begin on Monday 17 April and run until Thursday 16 June.
- We will be celebrating International Week through song! Please join us for International singing in the primary school playground at 8.25am on Wednesday 29 March.
- Our annual International Week Parade will be on Friday 31 March. The children can come to school dressed to represent a country of their choice, face paints and flags are warmly encouraged! We hope that you can join us, the parade will start at 9am and we would love to see you there.
- Please ensure that your child has the correct school uniform. In particular please ensure your child is wearing black shoes. Girls should wear plain white socks and boys should wear black or grey socks. You can review the school’s uniform policy here.
- Our school librarians are in school until 4:30pm on a Monday and Tuesday. If, as parents, you would like to borrow books you can set up afamily account.
In Literacy next week we will be using our knowledge and understanding of Shaun Tan’s books to compare his literary style with that of other well-known authors. A final book review will be written and published for display in the library with the aim to introduce new authors and books to other children in the school.

In Maths we shall be completing our work on translations and learning how to describe patterns of movement using coordinates. The children will then work on reviewing their number skills by solving word problems with decimals and measures and consolidating calculation skills with formal practice.

This week the children will be reflecting on the show case that we had last week. We will discuss the positives and celebrate the children’s success. We will also continue our Science work on Adaptations. The children will learn about different habitats and how animals, specifically camels, have adapted to their environment. The children will look at many examples of how animals have adapted to their environments. They will also investigate how bird’s beaks have adapted to suit their feeding habits and will take part in a scientific investigation.

This week the children will continue to look at a variety of blogs. They will listen to feedback from their peers regarding the blogs they have created and will make small adjustments to improve them.

They will take part in a variety of activites during Themed Learning lessons, that will help them to identify similarities and differences between cultures. The children will share their own culture and what makes their special.

We are learning about the extraordinary Easter celebrations in Spain. We are studying the music, clothing, food, and processions that occur during the Holy week.
For homework, the students will be asked to make a poster explaining the events that take place during the Holy week of Easter in Spain.

Next week the children will write responses to their pen-friends in the British International School in Vietnam. They will answer questions and generate more information to tell them from their knowledge so far.
Homework this week is to research Semana Santa and produce a PicCollage summarising the main facts about this festival.

Next week we will end our ‘ La Douce France ‘ topic, editing our cooking book and finishing our recipes. We will end the week with a ‘French Food Kahoot’, revisiting all the foods we’ve discussed, cooked and eaten in the French classes. Bon Appétit!

La semana que viene vamos a aprender a escribir noticias y resúmenes de textos. Como deberes, deben leer otras 10 páginas de su libro y resumir su contenido.
Kunst met een grote K
We vervolgen het thema ‘Kunst met een grote K’. We leggen dit thema de nadruk op beschouwen en ervaren en het formuleren van onderbouwde meningen.
Verschillende boeken staan weer centraal, waaronder: ‘Willewete, Naar het museum’, ‘Het grote Rijksmuseum voorleesboek’, ‘Grote Kunst voor Kleine Kenners’, ‘Kunst voor kinderen’, ‘Kunstige Kwasten’ en ‘De Stip’.
De leerlingen van Y3 en 4 starten met het maken van een Muurseum. De leerlingen van Y5 en 6 zullen onderzoek doen naar kunstenaars uit de Lage Landen. Ze kiezen een kunstwerk waarop ze een fantasieverhaal baseren.
Maandag t/m woensdag is juf Chris afwezig i.v.m. een conferentie. De leerlingen zullen voornamelijk zelfstandig werken aan vooraf bekende taken.
