Week Beginning 11 December 2017

MESSAGES

  • Wednesday 13th December is ‘Festive Frock Day’ – we are looking forward to seeing all of your outfits!  The children will also receive a Christmas lunch on this day.
  • Friday 15th December is the last day of term, and some of the teachers will be performing a pantomime for the children!

LITERACY

This week the children will complete their biographies.  For any quick finishers, they will go on to look at autobiogtaphies. Don’t forget to learn all of your spellings – test on Wednesday.

Towards the end of the week we will be doing some ‘Christmassy’ Literacy activities!

MATHS

The children will complete their unit on measure this week.  They will convert g to kg, ml to l, cm to m etc. 

We will have a quick mental maths test on Thursday this week – please practice times tables in preparation for these.

Towards the end of the week we will be doing some ‘Christmassy’ Maths activities!

This week we will be ending our World War 2 topic.  All children will present their inquiry based project.

This week, we will continue learning coding skills using the program: Python.  The children will work in groups and try and ‘debug’ each other’s work.

In PSHCE this term we will be looking at teamwork and collaborative working.  We will focus further on fostering new relationships, creating rules and expectations for the group and how to work together successfully.

Deze laatste week voor de kerstvakantie oefenen we alle categorieën van spelling die we tot nu toe behandeld hebben in het kader van ‘de puntjes op de i’. We lezen de nieuwsbegriptekst over de Kindervredesprijs en maken de bijbehorende opdrachten. Ook maken we het lokaal startklaar voor juf Irene die na de kerstvakantie zal beginnen. Tot slot schrijven we mooie kerst- en nieuwjaarswensen aan elkaar, onze familie of onze vrienden.

This weekend’s homework is  to revise the basics of French  on the Duolingo app.  

Next week, they will understand the difference between le/la/les and un/une in French and know when to use each type of article. They will take part in a simple role play based on a story.

This weekend’s homework is for the children choose an activity from their home learning grid.

Next week in class, we will continue to learn about Christmas traditions in France, with a focus on food, and will use a recipe to create a culinary delight! We will learn new vocabulary associated with the festive season and practise using this to form sentences, including adjectives and prepositions to include detail.
