This scholarship has given me an additional source of motivation to excel academically and contribute to the school community.
Meet our scholarship winners: Ghida Meet Ghida, an IB student whose outstanding commitment has earned her one of our 2021-22 scholarships.

This year, CDL put up 4 academic scholarships to reward the outstanding attitude of 4 of our talented students, both academically and in their personal development and commitment to others. We received many applications which led to a tough competition. After careful consideration, we are pleased to present to you one by one our 4 winners. In this article, meet Ghida, a wonderful IB student who has greatly deserved this award.

My name is Ghida, and I am a rising IB2 student who has just completed my third year at CDL as a boarder. Attending this school has given me the opportunity and tools to excel academically, receiving High Honors and the Highest Academic Achievement for boarding every term.

What’s more, CDL has offered me a wide range of extra-curricular activities which I have taken full advantage of. I am an active tennis player and captain of the U18 tennis team of Versoix allowing me to participate in national competitions. Tennis has always been a passion of mine and I was able to develop it further when attending this school. I am also an avid skier, and being part of the boarding community, I have the opportunity to ski on the Swiss Alps very often which I enjoy tremendously. I get to spend time outdoors with my friends while learning new skills.

During my time at CDL, I was able to give back to my community which nurtured a sense of purpose and fulfilment in me. Whether it was donating gifts to an orphanage in Geneva, wrapping more than 200 gift boxes to kids in Eastern Europe or contributing to the annual Lake Geneva clean up, helped me realise how grateful I am for receiving an international education as such and to everything my parents do to me on a daily basis.

So far, my best learning experience at CDL was participating in the Nord Anglia Podcast “A Little Bit of Genius”.  I was honoured to interview a famous cook from the UAE, who was able to share her inspirational life story with the listeners. It was a unique and enjoyable experience that allowed me to discover the back scenes of a podcast, which I wasn’t very familiar with.

Receiving this scholarship is an honour for me and my family. I look forward to the rest of my learning journey at CDL and making long lasting friendships and memories.
