Model United Nation Virtual Conference 3rd - 5th February 2021 We are very proud of twenty students from Collège Champittet who attended the first MUN Virtual Conference organized by the British International School Budapest last week.

We are very proud of twenty students from Collège Champittet who attended the first MUN Virtual Conference organized by the British International School Budapest last week. The main theme of the conference focused on the 13th United Nations Sustainable Development Goal “Climate Action”.

Together with other students of NAE European schools, our students were focusing on how to combat the issues arising from climate change in six different committees:

  • Climate change in the region of South Soudan in the Security Council,
  • The impact of the international shipping in the North Atlantic Ocean in the Economic and Social Council,
  • The effects of the Climate Change on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in the Pacific Islands in the Human Rights Committee,
  • The increasing risks of proliferation in nuclear energy programs in the Disarmament and International Security Committee,
  • Desertification of the Sahel Region in the United Nation Economic Commission for Africa,

In the last committee United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, students tried to collectively create a new framework, in attempts to alleviate the limitations of any previous climate actions frameworks.

We are also very proud of Victor, the student of year 14, who co-chaired one of the committees where he did a great job!

Model United Nations is an academic simulation, which helps students to learn about diplomacy, international relations and decision-making. Students play the role of delegates representing a country and debate to solve real world issues. It helps students develop critical thinking, writing, researching, public speaking and team building skills.

Once again, we are very proud of our students from grades 9 to 14 who participated in the conference and represented our Collège Champittet.
