At our traditional end of term ‘Whole School Assembly’ this morning I highlighted what has been a magnificent term for the British International School Hanoi. I gave examples of wonderful events that took place in Term 2:

-    Y4, Y5 and Y6 Expeditions
-    DoEIA Bronze and Silver expeditions
-    HAC Basketball, Badminton, Volleyball  and Football Competitions
-    KS3 Art Expedition
-    Y3 Young Enterprise Fair and Tam Bear Sanctuary Visit
-    MUN Conference at UNIS
-    Science Week
-    FOBISIA Golf Tournament in Thailand
-    Y12 CAS Expeditions to Mai Chau and Tanzania
-    FOBISIA U13 Games in Thailand

These were all outstanding events showing our students and staff in such a great light.

The assembly also focused on our termly Principal’s Awards which is allocated to a highly regarded student in each year group. The Awardees for Term 2 were:

F1    NGUYỄN Thế Lâm Y7I   HONG Ju Eun
F2I    Myra GUPTA Y8B   EONG Hye In
F3B   KIM Na Eun Y9S  VŨ Hoàng Mai
Y1I   JANG Yu Bin Y10H  LUA Xin Jie

Finally, during our assembly I acknowledged our Year 13 students most of whom have been with us since the school opened  in 2012. They have been such great role models for us throughout the years but particularly this year. Once again we keep getting wonderful news of University Offers that our Y13 students have received with the most recent being:

Tran Tuan Kiet: University College London (UCL). An university  which  is widely regarded as one of the world’s top institutions.

Hoang Ngoc Tram: Yale/NUS. This university in Singapore is jointly operated  by  Yale University (An Ivy League University)  and the National University of Singapore ranked number one in Asia.

Tran Lan Ngan: École hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL). Widely recognised as the world’s number one Hospitality school which has been operating  in Switzerland since 1893.

Bui Mai Anh: University of Arts London. An excellent and high ranking Art University based in the UK

What a wonderful way to end Term 2 of the 2016/17 academic year. I do hope you all have a wonderful holiday and we look forward to welcoming our students back to school on Monday, 17th April 2017.

Anthony Rowlands, Principal
