BIS Hanoi - Upcoming Events

Dear Parents,

In spite of the torrential rain on Tuesday it was lovely to welcome so many parents who came to attend our annual ‘Meet the Teacher’ sessions. This evening is designed to share more information about the routines in each year group but also to share a more detailed overview of the curriculum we deliver. We follow the English National Curriculum for Literacy, Maths and Science to ensure their learning reflects the international setting in which they learn, the International Primary Curriculum is the framework we follow for other subjects such as History, Geography, Art etc.

Learning is a journey we are all on and every student in our school has a different story. At BIS we personalise learning to support and challenge the needs of all our students and in every lesson our teachers are differentiating learning to ensure all students are making optimum progress.

Student Council and Young Leaders

Ensuring students have the opportunity to become young leaders is important; we want our students to feel empowered to know that they can effect change. In assembly today Ms. Crombie and Ms. Hull launched Student Council 2018/19 and invited all students to put themselves forward, should they wish, to take an active role in Primary Student Council. Elections will be held next week across years 2-6 so please talk to your children and encourage them if they would like to be part of this.

Celebration of learning
It is great to see so many parents have connected to Class Dojo and we hope this gives you a better insight to the children’s learning in school. It also enables teachers to celebrate the children’s achievements and share them with you. In addition to Class Dojo, our Star of the Week certificates returned today; they are a weekly celebration of individual achievement in learning but also recognise students who are demonstrating the characteristics of our Aide Memoire.

Wishing you all a wonderful long weekend,

Rebecca Carroll - Head of Primary
