For the Big Draw week, our school focused on the theme “Mindfulness”. In the foyer every morning and at lunch break for the whole week, there have been a multitude of ways for our students to be mindful and let their creativity flow.

On Monday’s assembly, Year 2 to Year 13 students were introduced to this year's Big Draw theme: Drawn to life. The idea behind this is to recognise and celebrate how creativity can be an important way to be mindful and promote wellbeing. They have explored how important mindfulness is to everyone and how it helps clearing minds from the stresses of everyday life. Then the creative Big Draw week started with a Mindful Doodling workshop that allowed the imagination of students and staff to run wild. Our students had an enjoyable time doodling today and some amazing ideas came out onto paper.

Moreover, knitting, origami, clay modeling, painting on canvas and creativity to music were also on offer for students during lunch break every day. Their creative works have definitely inspired us to learn some new skills!

One more activity of the Big Draw is mindful painting, which took place in the foyer every morning and it attracted many students from all Year groups. They all joined in and painted to calming music, some just freely doodling while some created a postcard for their friends and family.

The whole school contributed to a mindful colouring book by creating some awesome Zentangle designs, the most creative and imaginative will be published in the book which is being sold to raise money for the service trip to Tanzania and for other charitable causes.

It was a successful Big Draw week and we are delighted to see our student’s creativity exposed everyday!
