On Wednesday night, BIS Hanoi hosted its inaugural Basketball Showcase, raising money for the Blue Dragon Foundation. The event, organised spectacularly by a quartet of Sixth Form students, Tuong Vy, Tuan Kiet, Hoang Nam, Thanh Tri, was a huge success! Involving a group of young, bidding entrepreneurs selling snacks, drinks and raffle tickets for some amazing prizes, a half time shooting competition and entertaining match commentary.
Both teams (in their suave custom made kits) put on an incredibly entertaining game for the sold out crowd with only 1 point separating the sides at half time! The Junior Varsity team edged a 10 point lead in the 3rd quarter and held off some intense late Varsity pressure to hold on to the win!
The total amount raised for blue dragon was 9,450,000 VND, which we are absolutely over the moon about consider the size of the audience and it being the first event like this! It certainly gathered enough attention to snowball into a huge event in the future, especially with parents and guests present.
All in all a great injection of energy to the final week of an exhausting term for all! Hopefully this is just the beginning of large scale sporting events. Happy Easter!
