When an environment is created to educate young people, the physical environment can be positive but it is the feeling within a school, the people, the ethos, the culture that make it so special. This happens when the relationship between all members of the community is strong. This happens when one employs high quality staff.
There can be no question that the quality of the teachers in BVIS Hanoi is in direct proportion to the amount of progress your children make: socially, personally and academically. Teachers are good teachers through experience, through sharing good practice and from learning from their experiences. We have a strong system in place to give regular feedback to teaching staff and ensure children continue to make excellent progress. As in any profession, the staff are appraised and given the opportunity to learn from other professionals. Nord Anglia University, an online portal of seminars, resources, webinars for professional development, widely available to all our staff, is being used collaboratively to offer new ideas and share best practice from around the globe. This is a two-way process as we too offer ideas and skills from which our Nord Anglia colleagues can benefit.
Children learn exceptionally well when working with each other and so do our staff. This is the culture we are promoting, the culture where it is good to ask questions, where achievements are celebrated and where we enjoy learning from each other. We hope to start expanding these experiences of learning from other schools with the children. We want them to communicate globally and being part of Nord Anglia will help enable this. Like any new ideas and developments, this will take time and in very small steps but it is an exciting learning gateway for our future.
