Last week in Art, Year 8 have had the most spectacular opportunity to collaborate with two British contemporary artists who live and work in Hanoi.

This year, the students have been learning about colour theory, perspective, dimensions and typography through the medium of Graffiti.

We were lucky to do a whole day workshop with artists who specialise in this style of art. It was an incredible opportunity for the students to see firsthand how you can create this popular style of art that is often used today in graphics, fashion, websites specifically targeting young adult consumers.

It was wonderful to give the students a whole day to learn how to use an entirely new and exciting art material and I was so impressed by their talents! They worked both individually on their designs but collectively as a team. The end result was something I am sure they will remember for the rest of their life!

To be able to work on such a large scale requires a lot of artistic confidence; this truly was a very unique and exciting opportunity. I admired their ambition to work on a large public canvas and their ability to take risks, be confident, expressive and have fun with their artwork! They should be so proud of themselves and I hope they will take their confidence back into the art room next term.
