We have finally made it to the end of a wonderful and very busy term. August seems like a long time ago now as we look forward to a well earned rest over the Christmas holiday.
We ended the term with our annual Christmas Market. Once again a myriad of stalls selling food, local products and games to play were set up by our students, under the guidance of their house leaders. It was so lovely to see so many parents attending, and also to welcome the years 3,4 5 and 6 students. The entrepreneurial spirit of our students was tremendous to see as they sought to sell as much as possible to raise money for the house designated charities.
A grand total of VND 66 million was raised in the one and a half hours of the market - for Hanoi Pet Adoption, Blue Dragon and Operation Smile. An amazing effort from all involved. I would like to thank all the students, and Ms Thao, our Community Service Officer for all of their efforts in making this event another success.
On our last day of term we celebrated the many achievements of our students and staff in our end of term celebration assembly. Once again it was so wonderful to be able to acknowledge the success of so many of our community and proved to be a lovely way of ending our term.
The very last thing we did was once again have our staff pantomime. This is a very silly traditional British play that is performed over the Christmas period throughout the UK - and once again the staff put on such a funny ‘panto’ for the students so that we all left with a smile on our faces. My thanks to Ms Hutchinson for putting this together.
Thank you to all our parents that have supported us this term, and we wish all of our families a lovely holiday. Good luck to all of our Year 11, 12 and 13 students who will be spending the holiday revising for their mock IGCSE and A Level exams in January.
Merry Christmas and a very happy new year to all in the BVIS community. Term 2 starts on Monday January 7th
