Julie Walton

Julie-Walton|bvishanoi

Head Of Early Years | F3 Teacher

  • BA Primary Education with Early Childhood Studies, University of Surrey Roehampton, UK

Julie has been teaching for over 12 years. During this time, she has had the opportunity to teach a range of year groups from playgroup up to Year 3. She started her career teaching in London where for 9 years she coordinated and managed a number of curriculum areas including ICT, PE, Extended Services, Parent Workshops, International Links and the Early Years. After completing Leadership Pathways at the Institute of Education in London, she decided to broaden her experiences by exploring the international sector. This started with her work alongside the British Council where she visited and wrote reports on the Education systems in Tanzania and Canada. More recently, she visited Italy and immersed herself in the Reggio Emilia approach to learning.

Prior to arriving in Hanoi Julie was Head of Early years in a school in Portugal and more recently a Vice-Principal in Hong Kong.  During her time at these schools she has setup assessment trackers, phonics, mathematical graphics, re-developed the outdoor learning environments and supported pupils with English as an additional language. She is keen to make the curriculum learning experiences for the younger children in the school as exciting as possible and will strive to do this through hands-on interactive activities.

In her spare time, she likes to travel, explore the local Vietnamese culture and is starting to enjoy some water sports like kayaking and wake boarding.
