Our Curriculum

Below are answers to questions about our curriculum.

Does the school follow the British or Vietnamese curriculum?
On graduation we offer the renowned international A Levels qualification which is accredited by the Cambridge University Examinations Board and accepted by all leading world universities. We have a unique licence that allows us to teach an international curriculum in a fully bilingual environment, which is one-of-a-kind in Vietnam.

We are using the National Curriculum of England as our framework, and have embedded the strengths of the Vietnamese (MOET) curriculum in it, so that our students can enjoy the best from both curricula.

Will maths be taught in English?
Maths is taught in Vietnamese at Primary so that children build a strong mathematical foundation before gradually shifting to maths in English using the English National Curriculum at Secondary, in preparation for external exams.

How is the day timetabled? Will English be integrated or will it be English in the morning and Vietnamese in the afternoon?
The English and Vietnamese curriculum are integrated and delivered within the core school hours. Please se the Student Timetable to see our school day times.

How will Vietnamese culture and values be preserved?
We celebrate both languages in school and focus on Vietnamese heritage and culture in the Vietnamese curriculum. Most of our Teaching Assistants are Vietnamese, to assist our students with their Vietnamese studies, and we regularly celebrate key traditional Vietnamese events such as Tet and Moon Festival.

We are a very close-knit community and value family relationships and develop events such as our Grandparents Day, Parent Seminars, and Coffee Mornings. Our students go on day and residential trips not just abroad but also within Vietnam to learn more about Vietnam and experience traditional Vietnamese life and values. Traditions like respect for the elders and good manners are reinforced by our teachers in everything they do.

Which English subjects will my child lose out on by doing the Vietnamese subjects?
Students do not lose out on any subject by doing the Vietnamese subjects. Rather, all humanities subjects, maths and Vietnamese language are delivered in Vietnamese. Students still do the following subjects from the English National Curriculum in English: literacy, science, art, ICT, PE, music.

Will there be any learning support or additional support for my child?
The school offers learning support for children with mild learning difficulties, and we have a great, very experienced English as Additional Language (EAL) team that will help your child with their English language acquisition.

Does the school offer any extra-curricular activities?
We have a very exciting after-school programme available to our students. Every teacher has an after-school club there are leading, and at the moment we have about 100 different clubs available to our students, from a variety of traditional activities like swimming or poetry, to quirky clubs such as for example fishing.

We listen to our students and their families, and if there is sufficient demand for something new, we always try our best to launch a new club to meet the demand and offer even more variety to our students. In addition, we also have a range of other activities related to our memberships. Our Secondary students, for example, can take part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award scheme, which helps them to develop important life skills, and improves their long-term employability.
