Mr Paul Holyome Weekly Update 02/10/2015

02 October 2015

Dear Parents

As you know we have been working exceptionally hard since the school opened to establish a world leading, unique and special education for your children. During the past twelve months, the Department of Education and Training, Ho Chi Minh City have been visiting international schools in the city to inspect the educational quality and provision on offer to young people.

I am delighted to announce that following these inspections, BVIS has been given a special merit award for:

‘our unique vision to create global citizens with Vietnamese perspectives’

On Wednesday morning, I had the great honour of representing the school to collect the special award from DOET and was afforded the opportunity to address a distinguished audience of DOET committee members and principals of international schools across the city. We are one of only three schools to be selected to receive a merit award. This is a huge accolade for the school and is just reward for all the hard work we have collectively put in to establishing our unique and very special school. It reaffirms our mission and beliefs and is a timely reminder of how far and how quickly the school has developed in just a few short years. It is both important and very pleasing to receive external validation like this and long may it continue.

We have had a wonderful week here in school with Full Moon celebrations in early years, primary and secondary. It is always one of the highlights of the year for me, witnessing the whole school together in celebration of this very special occasion. The celebrations were capped by some excellent student performances and yet another occasion to make us all feel very honoured, lucky and proud to be part of the BVIS community.

Finally, we had a very successful week of activities, display and social networking in support of the United Nations Global Goals campaign.

Yet again our students fully embraced these important issues and I know this will just be just the start of our continued drive to support this very important global campaign. Thank you to everyone who has supported and taken part.
