Update from Art This Week

15 January 2016

This week has been a busy one in the art department. On Monday, students were given the opportunity to meet with Ms Aries Chan – a representative from University of the Arts London. This group of universities is a popular destination for students wanting to go on to further and higher education within the visual arts, and the meeting provided a chance for students to find out more about the six different colleges and the courses on offer. Ms Chan discussed application procedures with art students from years 11-13, explaining portfolio expectations and the interview process. She then spent time going through students’ sketchbooks and coursework, identifying strengths and areas for development in preparation for this term’s portfolio building.

Year 12 have also been sitting their AS art mock this week – a 15 hour exam in which they must produce an outcome communicating the ideas they have been investigating over the past 8 weeks. All students worked on their own themes and chose suitable materials and processes based on their own independent experimentation.
