This week in the Primary School
Learning language and literacy at school involves four skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. All are important, and therefore all are given priority when teachers plan for teaching and learning here at the British Vietnamese International School.
At different times in our school year, we shine a spotlight on one or more of these skills. Back in October, we focussed on and celebrated all four language skills and the children’s ability to use them in both Vietnamese and English during our “Bilingual Month”.
This term KS1 children were asked to write a short story about a watch or a clock in either Vietnamese or English whilst KS2 children’s task was to write a short story around the theme of WATCH (either a watch or watching) for the BIS-BVIS Short Story Competition.
In today’s Primary School assembly, we congratulated all our young writers and the 2018 competition winners were announced:
Leo (1S) and Cherry (1V)
LyLy (2V) and Kathy (2B)
Jason (3V) and Viet Thy (3S)
Seung Hyoek (4B) and Teppy (4V)
Henry (5S) and Bao Tran (5I)
Cindy (6I) and Vivian (6V)
These children will be joining the BIS winners later in the year for a special writers’ workshop event.
