As exam season approaches, many BVIS teachers are generously laying on extra sessions to help students with their revision. Year 11 students are strongly encouraged to attend and take advantage of these opportunities between now and the end of term. Students should check with their individual teacher, and inform the Bus Manager if they require a late bus for any of the afternoon classes. The following extra classes are currently being offered:
Last friday we had a very special visit by DR. NGUYEN THI MINH THAI
She came to year 13Vn1 Vietnamese lesson on Friday: we were delighted that Dr. Nguyen Thi Minh Thai, a well-known Vietnamese literature critic and writer, was able to come to the lesson after her appearance at Grand Parents’ Day. All students were very interested in Dr Nguyen Thi Minh Thai’s inspiring speech in which she shared her point of view about the vital role of Literature in our daily life. Fascinating the students with a variety of intriguing stories from the olden days to present, she successfully expresses how precious literature is and persuaded the students that is can add beauty and meaning to our lives. The lesson flew by and when the bell rang, Magda from Year 13V told Dr. Nguyen Thi Minh Thai: “We wish we could listen to your stories the whole day! Thank you very much!”.
Model United Nations - Cambodia
6 students went to Northbridge international School in Phnom Penh to take part in the MUN conference entitled ‘Pressing for Peace’. They took part in 2 of the general assemblies discussing issues such as protection against cyber warfare and Human rights in the occupied territories. There was a security council where a debate on the control of narcotics in South & Central America provoked a very stimulating discussion and in the Human Rights Council they debated the asylum rights of persecuted groups of society. This was a great opportunity for our students to engage with global issues.
On Thursday of last week, 9 of BVIS’s best Mathematicians headed to Singapore to compete in the prestigious South East Asian Mathematics Competition (SEAMC). The following students represented their school superbly, and include multiple medal winners and a golden ticket (for TRAN Quang Thien Dang), who was one of a select few, from around 300 students, to be invited to compete in the global round later this year in Melbourne. We are incredibly proud of our students’ achievements and they continue the grand tradition of outstanding international success by BVIS students at this competition. I wish to pass on my congratulations and thanks to all the students involved.

BVIS Presents: Alice in Wonderland
I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to attend the BVIS Secondary Production of ‘Alice in Wonderland’. Over the past few months students have worked hard to prepare an exciting show where you can travel down the rabbit hole, be entertained by the quirky characters and sing along to the catchy songs. It promises to be a magical evening which will leave you smiling.
The production will take place on Wednesday 21st March at 4pm, and Thursday 22nd March at 7pm in the Main Hall at BVIS. We hope to see you there!
