Welcome back!

It was lovely to welcome you all back to BVIS this week after the summer break. The school has been open throughout the summer, but it only truly comes to life when our children return, smiling, excited and eager to learn.

This week we also welcomed many new families to BVIS right across the Primary School and I hope they feel that they have had a positive start to their time with us. We welcomed some new teachers too: Ms Emily (Year 2); Ms Jordana (Year 3/4); Mr Max (Year 3); Ms Hannah (Year 5), Ms Nicola (Learning Support) and in the PE department Ms Brittany, Ms Danielle, Mr Warren. I know just how much they have enjoyed their first few days with your children.

You may be interested to know that all staff have been busy at work preparing for the new school year for several weeks now. Part of this preparation is to provide time for our teachers to receive high quality training. Ian Bristo came to BVIS to deliver several days focussed training in phonics. He is a trainer with Read Write Inc phonics in the UK which is the foundation of our unique bilingual phonics programme. In September, you will be able to attend a programme of series of coffee mornings to help you learn more about the programme.

In the meantime, I look forward to seeing you on Thursday evening at our “Meet the Teachers” event which will start at 17:30 in the Main Hall. You will be able to hear about some of our latest developments as well as spend time in your child’s classrooms finding out about the year ahead.
