As the scientist and philosopher Aristotle says, “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.” Therefore, we regularly hold community activities so that our students have an opportunity to develop themselves and become not only global citizens, but global citizens with their own Vietnamese perspective.
Thus, during their assembly in September, our students were introduced to the “World’s Largest Lesson 2019”, which was about children’s rights. We also welcomed Ms. Naomi Skinner, our special guest and former BIS HCMC teacher. She was about to embark upon a challenging journey called “Running to make a Change”. She will be running from the North to the South of Vietnam in order to raise funds for orphanages and NGOs which are helping homeless, poor and uneducated children. In order to fulfill her challenge, she has enlisted the support of some international schools to follow her in this project. The funds raised will be donated to charity organisations nationwide. BVIS is one of the schools supporting her to make a difference.
As part of this, BVIS children participated in a Mufti Day on Friday, 27th September. They went to school wearing their own sports clothes and together raised funds to support Rang Dong school with an internet TV so the children with a disability who study there can learn in a more interesting way.
