Medical and Health Care

Living in a tropical environment can present a particular set of health concerns including typhoid, dengue and parasites.

Many of the most common illnesses can be avoided by taking simple precautions like washing your hands before eating, applying mosquito repellent and not drinking tap water. There are a number of international standard clinics and hospitals within Jakarta, with practicing doctors receiving specialist training overseas. Whilst they are adequately equipped to treat many ailments, a number of expatriates prefer to go to Singapore for major medical procedures. High level health care is relatively expensive within Indonesia.
