Northbridge proud to host the 3rd Nord Anglia South East Asia Games This past weekend our youngest Nagas athletes took part in the 3rd annual Nord Anglia South East Asia Games. Luckily, this year Northbridge International School Cambodia was hosting the games, which meant many families and friends could come watch all of our athletes compete.

Southeast Asia Games is a Grade 4 and 5 tee ball and basketball tournament which this year was against seven other Nord Anglia schools from the region. The visiting schools were:

• British School Yangon

• British Vietnamese International School Ho Chi Minh City

• British Vietnamese International School Hanoi

• St Andrews International School, Bangkok

• Regents International School, Pattaya

• British International School Ho Chi Minh City

• British International School Hanoi

All schools competed in both boys and girls events and our Nagas had a fabulous weekend.

On day 1 there was girls tee-ball and boys basketball. The girls put all of their training to good use getting two of three wins in the pool play stages of the tournament, ranking them second.

In their crossover game the girls lost to the eventual tournament champions but came back fighting in their next game to take the bronze medal.

The girls were resilient in the face of defeat and kept great attitudes in each game, they showed excellent teamwork and should be commended on how well they played.

The boys had some great basketball games once again winning two of their three games in the pool play stages. Their most convincing win of the day was holding a team to only two points winning 23-2.

Placing second at the end of pool play the boys faced tough competition and, although they lost, kept their eyes on the bronze medal.

In the last game of the day the boys were dominant in play but were having troubling getting their shots in.

In the last minute of the game the other team was ahead by one point, and although the Nagas played with control and had many shots, unfortunately none went in. The boys ended in 4th place with a solid effort overall.

In day two the Nagas switched sports with the girls taking on basketball and the boys moving to tee ball.

It was an exciting start to the day as both teams won their first games gaining momentum in the early part of Sunday.

The boys worked hard in their second game fielding very well in the first inning to limit the points of the other team. However, in the end they lost by one run in a very close battle.

The next game was against a tough team from HCMC who were organized and effective.

The boys held their own and were able to field and bat excellently. Although defeated the boys were only two points behind this top team and kept them to minimal runs.

At the end of day two the boys took their final game to overtime and came 6th place for tee-ball, once again only losing by one point. The boys commitment to hard work was clear as they were tough competitors overall.

In day two the girls suited up for basketball and took an early win in their first game. The girls played very strong defence and capitalized on offense whenever there were opportunities.

The girls second game was a tight match with both teams playing very aggressive defence, although the girls lost this game they kept their heads up and came back fighting for game 3.

The strong performance and high score in the third game of the day meant the girls were ranked first in their pool in a 3-way tie.

Moving into their crossover game the girls had a solid win over their competitors which moved them into the finals. The girls were full of energy regardless of how tired they felt after two days of competition.

The girls challenged the opponents on every play and made some amazing baskets and free throws. Although the girls lost the final match they are the proud owners of silver medals and as a coach I could not be more impressed by the way they represented our school.
