On 9 February the senior Nagas basketball teams competed in the ISSAPP finals at Northbridge International School Cambodia.
The senior boys B team competed Friday evening against three other B teams from Phnom Penh. First they took on CIA and won with a convincing scoreline. Next was a tougher competitor, East West, who the boys played against very well using smart and patient play.
On their third back-to-back game of the night the boys played the other undefeated team of the tournament, ISPP. The boys had some amazing shooting, passing and were able to come away with the win, making them B team champions.
Our girls team has shown substantial improvement this season, which has been a direct result of their motivation to put in more practice time to improve.
With the seniors of the team taking a huge leadership role, the girls have come a long way., and were able to implement a relentless full court press which allowed them to be dominant on court in a way not previously seen this season.
The girls won all three of their pool play games by a good margin, moving them into the finals against ISPP. Although the girls played well in the final they were not able to get their fourth win of the day. However, we are so proud of our girls coming second.
The senior boys started the day off with two solid wins over Paragon and LFRD.
However, with a few injured players the boys were short on numbers making for a tough final game of pool play versus ISPP. Although the boys played well they were unable to keep up to the high pace of play against a full-strength team from ISPP.
The boys then moved to the 3rd place playoff against Logos, and played a dominant first half giving them a solid lead. However, once again the lack of fit players caught up with the team and they lost narrowly to Logos.
At Northbridge International School Cambodia, with our covered Aquatics Centre, pool facilities and specialised staff, we are very lucky to have the opportunity for our students to learn how to swim as well as improve on existing swimming skills during our PHE classes.
As we approach the last days of the semester at Northbridge International School Cambodia, we can look back fondly on the successful return of sports for our community following the Covid restrictions since 2020. So nice to be back.
