Khmer New Year

To help celebrate the start of Khmer New Year at school, parents will bring traditional Khmer snacks for our kids on Friday morning, with the cost sponsored by the school.

Café Blends

A few parents gave feedback that Café Blends is using condensed milk for some drinks, and sometimes sells coffee to Primary students. The Parent Council (PC) hopes the school can ensure the staff in Café Blends continue to stick to the Northbridge Food Standards. Mr Richard agreed to look into this, but also hopes parents can help to educate their children so they know to choose healthy food and drink, without adult supervision.

School Counsellors

Some parents feel that there are not enough counselors in our school, especially for Secondary students in Grades 8 to 9, who need help to decide what subjects they should take by the end of Grade 10. Parents hope that the school can provide workshops to help them understand more about this transition. The PC also suggests the school provide a full-time counsellor in Primary to proactively help children develop emotional education.

Mr Richard responded that the school is developing teachers to support the social and emotional needs of all our students. For Secondary, some teachers would be more involved in educating not only on academic matters, but also on a range of social topics. For Primary, class teachers with such training aim to be more sensitive and attentive to children’s emotional needs. Mr Richard added that the school always tries its best to provide support for parents of children who have more intensive emotional needs.

Infrastructure

Toilets: PC gave feedback that the Primary toilets are often dirty and hopes the school could both give training to the school cleaners, and also educate the small kids how to take care of the public area and keep the washrooms clean by posting more instruction.

Aircon: Parents remakred that the air-conditioning in the Primary cafeteria is seldom on during lunchtime. PC suggests the school assign one staff member to be in charge of this.

Gym: Parents also suggested the school provide 'water' fans at the gym to help cool kids.

Photos

Parents hopes the school can take sibling photos at next year's photoshoot. The photography company has confirmed this will be possible to arrange next year.
