Children's Physical Space at NIS Jakarta

In the Early Years at NIS Jakarta we understand the important role that the classroom environment plays on children's growth and development. Just like the Reggio Emilia philosophy towards early education, we consider the children's physical space as the third teacher, with the first being a child's parents and the second being their teachers.

Learning spaces should be filled with abundant natural light, order and beauty; with furniture that is accessible, open and uncluttered. That is exactly what we have created at NIS by using beautifully crafted, low wooden furnishings coupled with purposefully chosen, open-ended resources that inspire creativity, imagination and allow children to construct their own learning.

Our focus is to provide all our students with a classroom environment that encourages a deeper and wider understanding of their interests; whilst also acting as a platform to provide strong language opportunities, communication, collaboration and strengthen a child's understanding of respect.
