Northbridge Grade 12 students embark on a trip with a twist for their final MIA expedition From 5-7 February 2020, the Grade 12s ventured on their very final MIA at Northbridge International School Cambodia, and this year we had something different planned for them. In previous years our Grade 12s had stayed in Phnom Penh to prepare for their mock exams, this year with mock exams over we wanted to engage our students in some reflective and relaxing activities as well as something new.

Day One: C-4 Adventures

On Day One we set out to the Kampong Seila District to stay the night at Picnic Lodge and have an outdoor experience with C-4 Adventures. The bus trip was a quiet affair - with the early morning departure of 7am most students took the time to sleep and relax before the day ahead.

Once we arrived at Picnic Lodge students entered a compass and map reading workshop which would prepare them for the next day's activity.

After this workshop students were taken out to the orienteering field to practise their pacing out and gauging distances, and being out of the city students were entitled to an amazing sunset (I will let the photo do the talking here).

Day Two: The Event

Day Two saw the students put the classroom lesson on orienteering into practice in an orienteering race, then after the race it was lunch and a bus ride home for our tired students.

Day Three: A Day at Northbridge

Day Three was a great day for the Grade 12s, as we had some students unable to come to Picnic Lodge join us to add to our numbers. All of the students were able to partake in some great activities that really challenged them to think differently, such as:

In summary, there were some amazing experiences on this trip for the students, and the MIA offered them time to get outdoors and relax actively.

Overall the Grade 12s had a great time getting themselves centered and ready for the busy months to come.
