How learning support works in the Primary school at Northbridge Within PYP an inclusive philosophy is advocated and the class teacher is responsible for understanding the needs of each individual and catering to their learning styles within their class. There are times when students may experience barriers to learning. Within PYP an inclusive philosophy is advocated and the class teacher is responsible for understanding the needs of each individual and catering to their learning styles within their class. There are times when students may experience barriers to learning. At Northbridge International School Cambodia we endeavour to provide programmes that enable individual students to reach their full potential.

The Learning Support Coordinator and Learning Support Teachers work collaboratively with classroom teachers, providing additional time-bound support that enables students to meet their individual needs.

Support takes a variety of forms:

  • Teacher support.  Identifying specific learning and support needs for individual students, assisting in implementing these differentiated strategies and programmes.
  • Within the classrooms teachers through differentiation develop lessons that are tailored to the individual needs of students.
  • Small groups or individual students in class or may be withdrawn during the course of the week to participate in further learning activities. These groups are ever changing as to meet the needs of the students.
  • Intensive Individual Intervention is provided through the development of Individual Learning Plans. Here the Coordinator together with teachers and parents set goals for students to achieve and work through the strategies at home and at school that will be used to support the child achieve these individual goals with teacher and parent support.
  • Working with support networks (outside the school), may consist of educational experts, therapists and other educational support strategies to help in ensuring and maximising learning opportunities for particular students through a collaborative team approach of all role players.
