Movement: using space and travelling to develop gross motor skills and spatial awareness.
Parachute Games: To develop teamwork and gross motor skills.
Basic Fundamental Movement Skills: To develop gross motor skills and spatial awareness.
Swimming: Reception has a scheduled weekly swimming lesson throughout the year. Water confidence, bubble breathing, body position and leg action on front and back are the focus. Nursery and Teddies swimming is offered in Term 2 and 3, subject to parents being allowed back on the school site, with focus on water confidence, learn through play and water activities.
Team Games: To learn how to work together as a team to achieve a goal.
Gymnastics : To develop strength, co-ordination, balance and flexibility.
Athletics : To develop gross motor skills, balance and agility.
Physical Literacy: Further development of fundamental movement and sport skills, allowing children to move confidently and competently in a wide range of physical activity and sport situations. It also includes the ability to ‘read’ what’s going on in particular situations and reacting appropriately.
Fun fitness: To develop and build upon functional movement skills. We will work on specific skills and then use these skills in fun games.
