It's a wrap! Northbridge Primary sports round-up for 2018 What a fantastic semester it has been for sport in our Northbridge International School Cambodia Primary Years Program. Our students have had the opportunity to participate in YAPP, Nord Anglia South East Asia Games and The Human Rights Football Tournament. With this busy schedule it is sometimes hard to keep track of how all of our athletes did, so here is a recap of all the amazing sporting success of our youngest Nagas.

What a fantastic semester it has been for sport in our Northbridge International School Cambodia Primary Years Program.

Young Athletes of Phnom Penh (YAPP)

Our annual YAPP Track and Field day was a great success as we welcomed over 500 athletes from Phnom Penh to our campus for the day. Our Nagas had a great day showing solid teamwork and a high level of participation. We are so proud of all our athletes for giving everything a try, especially those who were new to the activities.

Human Rights Football

The 8th annual Human Right Football tournament took place on December 9th, 2018. Our youngest Nagas football players were eager to participate in this event and we were able to enter a team into the U10 and U12 categories.

Our U10 Boys and Girls were full of energy coming into the day and excited to play. Although they played against well practiced teams their hard work and dedication in the pool play stages took them to finals for 3rd/4th. Our Nagas played a great game and are the proud owners of a 3rd place trophy.

Our U12 Boys and Girls team played great football over the day and were always cheering to keep their spirits high. Although they did not make it to the finals, they gained a wealth of experience through the day and displayed excellent sportsmanship. Their cheers were echoing around the pitch for all of the other teams and we thank them for the support.

Nord Anglia South East Asia Games

Our Nagas Athletes took part in the 3rd annual Nord Anglia South East Asia Games which Northbridge was hosting from November 30th - December 2nd. The South East Asia Games is a Grade 4 and 5 tee-ball and basketball tournament which involves seven other Nord Anglia Schools.

All schools competed in both boys and girls events and our Nagas had a fabulous weekend. The boys worked hard as a team on both days showing resilience against some tough competitors. The boys made it to the 3rd / 4th final for basketball, fighting hard the whole game. The boys ended in 4th place with a solid effort overall.

On the second day, the boys played tee-ball, fielding very well overall and making smart plays on offense. At the end of the day, the boys took their final game to overtime and came in 6th place for tee-ball, once again only losing by one point. The boys' commitment to hard work was clear as they were tough competitors overall.

The girls suited up for tee ball on day one and played very well as a team. Their strong defensive play was no match for their competitors and the girls advanced easily to the 3rd/ 4th finals. The Nagas brought their same fighting spirit to these finals and claimed the bronze medal as they were able to effectively shut down the opponents' offense.

The girls took on basketball on day two and played very strong defense. The strong performance and high score for the girls moved them into the finals after their first 4 games. The girls were full of energy regardless of how tired they felt after two days of competition. The girls challenged the opponents on every play and made some amazing baskets and free throws. Although the girls lost the final match they are the proud owners of silver medals.

It has been a great few weeks for our Primary students, and we look forward to even more opportunities for them to grow as athletes next semester.
