Happy Khmer New Year!

Happy Khmer New Year! Today we come to a short break in our Semester and the beginning of Khmer New Year. Today and yesterday we have celebrated in classrooms and around the school finishing with our whole school enjoying a performance of Khmer traditional New Year dancing.

On 12 April, Grade 10 students lead by Kanya, Thanakon and Nimol organised a Khmer New Year and tribute party for our hardworking cleaners, maintenance staff and gardeners.

Parent Council

Update from the Parent Council - by Mr Gregor Schneider - Chair

At the Parent Council meeting on Tuesday, 3rd April 2018, the following update was provided on parent's questions:

Internal Communication in Primary: Parents asked for a more standardized approach to communication between school and primary parents. If a tool is used it should be across grades instead of different communication tools and styles in different grades. Mr. Richard will take this up and additionally informed about current discussions regarding a clear communication strategy and digital calendar.

Preference for locally produced products: Parents were asking that local products should be preferred (examples: school photos, swim suits). Mr. Richard informed that locally produced products will be used if they meet the quality requirements of NISC, which was not always the case, therefore occasionally non-local producers are chosen.

Percentage IB graduates at NISC: The percentage of IB graduates at NISC is high, around 96 per cent in 2017. A follow up question arose about for which universities NISC graduates qualify with their IB diploma. Further information can be found by viewing this link on our school website.

The Parent Council meets at 8 am every first Tuesday of each month in the primary multi-purpose room (3116). The dates are marked in the school calendar. If you have any topic or concern you would like to have discussed, feel free to join the meetings or send an e-mail with details to pc@nisc.edu.kh.

Parent Workshops

Being a parent is one of life’s greatest joys, but it is also one of its biggest challenges. There’s hardly a mum or dad on the face of the earth who, at times, is not overawed by the task of parenting, which is why we're proud to announce Parentalk courses covering the Primary Years and the Teenage Years.

Led by Primary Counsellor Ms Alison and Secondary Counsellor Mr Dave, these Parentalk courses will give parents time to talk about the day-to-day challenges they face, as well as sharing the things that are going well.

They will be held every Friday from 27 April to 25 May; 8:00- 10:30 a.m. in The Hub Boardroom. The cost is US$10 per person for the whole course, and there is a maximum of 16 participants for each course (Primary Years and the Teenage Years).
