Northbridge Primary students show excellent athletic ability and sportsmanship at YAPP It has been a fabulous year for Northbridge International School Cambodia Primary students, and so many of them have signed up to be risk-takers and participate in Young Athletes of Phnom Penh (YAPP). As our city continues to grow, YAPP has now been divided into two divisions, North and South. Northbridge is the main home base for the North division, hosting events for CIA, East-West, Hope and Logos. Over the school year, there are been five main YAPP events where our students have demonstrated some of their excellent athletic ability as well as sportsmanship.

The year started off with 4:4 Basketball, many of our Grade 2 to 5 students signed up, some playing basketball for the first time ever. Our students were able to apply some of the knowledge they learned in PE to the court and also worked collaboratively with new groups of people on their team. Basketball is a great sport for learning communication, organization, and teamwork.

Next up was YAPP football, where students went to the Emperial Sports Club to compete for an afternoon.

Many of our students also took part in the NISC Primary Football team this year so it was a great opportunity for them to apply their training to a real-world situation.

Once again our students worked well together and had fun participating. This was a great chance for our students to show their open-mindedness as we had some mixed teams comprised of Northbridge students and students from other schools.

To end off Semester 1, students took part in the YAPP Track and Field day here at Northbridge.

During this event, all teams from both the North and South division came to Northbridge to participate for a day of activities.

There were many types of activities from 100m sprint to 3 legged race and our students had great participation in everything.

It was a great day to see Nortrhbridge students meet new friends from around the city and be proud of everything they accomplished.

In Semester Two, we had two different YAPP events starting with Tee-Ball and ending recently with Dodgeball and Capture the Flag.

For Tee Ball, our students were excited to once again play as many of them competed in Nord Anglia South East Asia games for Tee Ball and were missing playing the sport.

Tee Ball was a very fun day when our students were able to show so many amazing skills alongside great community support cheering each other on during the off games.

Capture the Flag and Dodgeball was a very fun event where we had many of our students sign up. The children needed to coordinate game plans and strategy to be effective as a team.

Once again our students showed us they were great ambassadors for our school in their behaviour and fair-play throughout the day.

Although YAPP is done for this year, we are excited to see what next year holds and all the great efforts of our youngest Nagas. Go Nagas, go!
