Patrick Loughran

Patrick Loughran - new

Primary Teacher

P. J. Loughran has a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Ulster. He has been working in Latvia for the past two years at King’s College, The British School of Latvia, where he was a Year 4 teacher and most recently at The International School of Latvia teaching the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program in a Grade 3 class.

P. J. creates a warm, caring and child centred class who wants all pupils to be successful learners and work to create a classroom atmosphere that is stimulating, encouraging, and adaptive to the varied needs of students.  He creates a safe and supportive classroom community where students are encouraged to engage in deep thinking and actively participate in their learning through cooperative learning activities, differentiated instruction and developing the whole child.

Having qualified as a teacher in 2012, P.J. spent 5 years teaching in Northern Ireland before embarking on his international teaching journey. He taught last year at Kings College The British School of Latvia in Year 4 before having the opportunity to join The International School of Latvia and teach the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program as a Grade 3 teacher. He has previously worked with Seagate Technology in Derry City, Northern Ireland for 15 years in a number of professional roles.

P.J. enjoys spending time with his family and his son has just started his first full-time employment after completing university. He is a keen sports coach and supporter and enjoys cycling and hill walking.
