Regents Dance, empowering our students for the world stage

Dance at Regents

Regional Dance Project ‘Dance Unites’

‘Dances Unites’ was a project across South East Asia and brought  together students across Nord Anglia schools in Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia. Led by our Regents Dance Specialist Mr Spencer, students across South East Asia explored commercial choreography in response to a set hip hop music track. Students created their own choreographic responses and worked with their NAE dance teachers to collaboratively develop their material. This was then filmed and edited to create a final video. All students were inspired by their experiences in this truly international dance collaboration.

‘The Heather Hansen Project’

Students were given the opportunity to take part in a collaborative project fusing movement with art. Students explored the concept of performance art with reference to artist ‘Heather Hansen’. Hansen works to create kinetic art on large scale canvases. She imprints her body in to the canvas through performing a series of movements over and over to create organic forms full of motion and dynamic energy.

Students explored their bodies moving in space, to echo the same processes used by the artist...

  • Physicality of the body
  • The accumulation of energy
  • Sketching live movement
  • Imprinting into the floor
  • Exploring performance art

These workshops worked to inform work for student IB art projects and to widen student knowledge of mixed medium projects.  The creative responses from the students were incredible and students worked collaboratively to create an exhibition of their work...

Uliana Solo

Here at Regents we believe in empowering our students to reach their true potential. This solo performance was a piece choreographed by dance specialist Graeme Spencer to provide extra dance enrichment. ‘Uliana has solid technical training in dance, but she was struggling to find her own sense of expression and performance presence. I worked with her to find a greater connection with the movement and music. She has started to transform herself in to a truly three dimensional performer.’

Treat Myself

Dance teaches our students that being unique is better than being perfect. The greatest performers are not always made of their technique but of their passion. We are so proud of our students who worked together to overcome their apprehensions to performing live and presented themselves with commitment and confidence. Be Regents. Be ambitious!
