Every year, World Children’s Day reminds us to reflect on and support the rights, well-being, and voices of children everywhere. Promoted by UNICEF, this day carries a powerful message: every child deserves safety, a nurturing environment, access to quality education, and the freedom to dream big.

Our values are clear that we aim to develop creative, confident, and considerate students who are prepared for their futures, and where better to start building that confidence than with our youngest students.  From the first moment they enter our school, they access our incredible Early Years teaching and learning spaces, all filled with activities that spark fun roleplay, collaboration, and encourage our students to dream.

The Nord Angla INSIGHTS content continues this month with a very insightful article related toThird Culture Kids(TCKs).

In our series of alumni spotlight articles, we speak with Pia Herrera Padilla, one of our graduates who is currently working as a Junior Doctor at the Royal Melbourne Hospital having completed her Medical Doctorate.  She’s currently on her pathway to commence her specialty training in Internal Medicine.

Following from our recent article about two of our students being selected as finalists for the John Locke Essay Writing competition, we’re delighted to share that current Year 13 Yeonjin K has been awarded a High Commendation overall, securing not only the prestige that comes from the competition, but also a valued scholarship for a residential programme with the John Locke Institute in Singapore.

We are excited to collaborate with the Modern Academy of Science and Technology (MAST) to launch our 2024 Winter Camp!  Available to students aged 6-13, these winter camps will be packed full of exciting and engaging STEAM-related activities right here at NAIS Pudong.

Thank you to everyone for coming to help us celebrate Bonfire Night and Diwali on Sunday.  It was another wonderful evening as we gathered together around the fire and enjoyed a range of food & beverages from our vendors under the dark evening skies, thankful that the wild weather from earlier in the weekend had well and truly dissipated.

Last week, eight students from the China Region, including our student Lorna from NAIS Pudong, had the thrilling opportunity to visit the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, USA.

Recently we were pleased to welcome Year 5 student, Alice C's, grandparents to speak to some of our native Mandarin Primary students. The discussion served as the first event of the Mandarin department's new annual program, "Living Legacies."

The campus felt rather quiet over the past few days as students from across the school took part in Enrichment Week.  Students and teachers have been exploring different cities across China, discovering knowledge and skills beyond the classroom.

This week’s PE lessons focused on the Global Campus Sports Challenge, an activity in which students from various Nord Anglia schools around the globe compete to log as many miles as possible through walking, running, swimming, or cycling activities. In sessions here at NAIS Pudong, students from Years 1 to 6 dedicated one lesson to running and another to swimming. Together in PE lessons, they covered a truly impressive total of 320 miles on foot and 20 miles in the water!

On 21st and 22nd October, NAIS Pudong had the privilege of hosting the first of our Juilliard link staff, Music Specialist Mr Brian Drye, from New York. Over the course of his visit, Mr Drye engaged our staff and students in a series of dynamic and creative sessions, showcasing Juilliard’s innovative approach to music education.

This week, we had the pleasure of hosting Jason Chang from Apple Inc as part of our Industry Expert Talk series. Jason has been an Operations Project Manager in the New Product Introduction (NPI) division at Apple Inc. since 2017. Before that, he worked in similar roles at Foxconn and Lenovo, accumulating over 17 years of experience in the tech industry.

This week, students and staff across the school showed awareness of their own self-care and demonstrated support for their friends, classmates and colleagues by wearing yellow items for World Mental Health Day.

The summer trekking expedition of the year returned this month when a group of our students headed into the Swiss mountains for the experience of a lifetime!

Our mascot, Tony, graduated along with our other Year 13s in June 2024 and he’s decided to take a Gap Year in order to travel our global Nord Anglia Education family of schools.

Nord Anglia International School Shanghai, Pudong has proudly been part of the Shanghai education picture for almost 25 years and stands as China’s longest-running British international school.

With results season just around the corner - at least for our Year 13s who will get their IB grades on 6th July - the Nord Anglia INSIGHTS team have created a powerful piece which I’d encourage every parent, regardless of the age their child, to read.

This achievement stands as a testament to the unwavering dedication of our Social Impact Committee and the remarkable efforts of our entire school community.
