As we welcome the class of 2024 to the Diploma Programme (DP) at Northbridge International School Cambodia, our DP teachers are excited to empower our grade 11 students to take on new challenges, to learn new skills and to further develop insights into the world they live in.

It has been wonderful to see all the students back in school this week for the start of another exciting year at Northbridge International School Cambodia. Fresh faced, smiles on their faces, summer stories to tell. A real buzz was in the air.

Welcome to the new school year at Northbridge International School Cambodia. I hope you have managed to get some time to relax and the students are rested and ready for their new classes. It was certainly lovely to see so many of them on Wednesday when they came to see their new teachers and learning spaces.

We have had such a great year at Northbridge International School Cambodia and the House System is really up and running under our House Leaders Ms Camille, Mr Kosal, Mr Paraic and Mr Z.

The Grade 5 Exhibition is the culmination of the Primary Years Programme (PYP) at Northbridge International School Cambodia and an opportunity for students to research and problem solve in a collaborative group, drawing upon and extending their skills, knowledge, strengths, passions and interests in order to make a positive difference to others and the wider world.

School traditions are often unique to their individual schools and are special moments that bring the community together and elevates the overall school spirit. Last Friday, Northbridge International School Cambodia started a new tradition with their graduating class, the 'Senior Walk'.

After two long years of interruptions to our regular school activities, it was wonderful to welcome parents and our wider school community back on site to celebrate our Grade 10 Personal Project Showcase at Northbridge International School Cambodia.

This week the Grade 12 IB Diploma students at NISC complete a major milestone in their DP journey: the submission of the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) essay. This 1,600-word essay is the culmination of two years of reading, study and thought, centered around the question of “how do we know what we claim to know?”. Some people may feel that this question is either so obvious as to not warrant discussion, or so opaque as to be unanswerable. TOK students strive to uncover their own, and others’ cognitive biases, assumptions and intellectual blind spots in order to create a firm foundation on which to build their intellectual world as lifelong learners.

One of the key goals of the IB programmes is to promote intercultural understanding but what does this really mean and how can it be achieved in our language classes at NISC?

As children grow, we help them to develop greater age-appropriate independence; they gradually learn important life skills such as decision-making, time-management and social skills. They learn how to live and work with others, and they learn how to make safe choices that help them to live happier and more successful lives.

There is so much new technology entering the education sector these days it is almost hard to keep track of. Here at Northbridge, we strive to review and refine what we use in class constantly. To assist with this, we use the SAMR model which is a framework created by Dr. Ruben Puentedura to categorise four different types of technology integration in the classroom.

Grade 1 have spent weeks perfecting their own Traction Man stories. Using the Book Creator app, they have written their own exciting tales with the beloved characters, Traction Man and Scrubbing Brush, from the popular stories by Mini Grey.
