As part of our Themed Learning ‘World War Two 1939-1945: The Big Picture’ we have decided to visit the Jewish Refugee Museum on Thursday 28 November. This museum acknowledges the Chinese authorities granting asylum to thousands of Jewish refugees escaping persecution.
We will be leaving school in three buses, departing in 30 minute intervals at 9:00 am, 9:30 am and 10:00 pm. This is due to the size of the museum and allowing students a reasonable access to the exhibits. We will also visit a memorial and park dedicated to the Jewish population that developed in the area during the 1940’s. Following this the students will visit a park north of the Bund and participate in planned activities before having lunch and travelling back to school in the afternoon, so children will be able to attend ECAs or go home as normal.
Students who normally have school lunch will be provided with a packed lunch on the day. All other students will need to provide their own lunch. You may pack an additional drink and small snack if you wish. Students will be required to wear uniform as normal on the day, but should wear comfortable walking shoes and a waterproof jacket, should the weather become wet.
