A Trip to the Great Wall of China

14 april 2014

There was a flurry of activity this morning as our Year 6 students prepared to depart for Beijing and their adventure along the Great Wall.

After last minute checks and a roll call out on the front playground, they set off to take the train to Beijing. The journey was an exciting one for the students and an adventure in itself. Watching the countryside fly by it gave them a brief glimpse of other places in China. To keep themselves occupied, the students studied each other, drawing character portraits followed by a session on trying to draw the landscapes seen from the window.

Later in the day, a message arrived from the group to say that all had arrived safely and the students were busy settling in to the guesthouse. After a dinner of some local dishes, the teams started their first activities - settling in going through the safety guidelines. Then it was time for bed, to recharge for the day of hiking that lay ahead.
