Staff Development in Primary

19 november 2015

Last Friday when the children were at home enjoying the first day of the long weekend, staff were busy in school. They were taking advantage of the peace and quiet and participated in a full and productive staff development day. These days are precious and highly valued to ensure the ongoing improvement of our school.

  • Staff Development

On Friday, the sessions focused on ‘Deeper Learning’, and there was input on Guided Reading, Literacy, Maths, Themed Learning, Science, iPads and Global Classroom. Staff fully benefitted from not only the information shared, but the opportunity to discuss topics in depth.  As one said, ‘It was great to have time to share ideas with others from different backgrounds and different experiences.  I learned so much.’

And our Learning Assistants were not forgotten. They also had a full and productive day with sessions on Maths, Phonics, Playground Support, Healthy Eating and Hygiene. It was a busy day!

Finally, some staff travelled to Guangzhou to attend the Nord Anglia China Regional conference. This was an opportunity to share our practice with other schools and learn of new initiatives. It is always reassuring to discover that our school is always at the forefront of developments as we continue to improve.

At BISS Puxi, we are committed to developing staff, realising that they, and their expertise, are the most valuable resource within the school. We talk about ‘growing our own’. On Friday, sessions were led by staff that are keen and ambitious to gain experience in developing and growing as future leaders. We are fortunate to have such highly motivated and enthusiastic staff who inspire our children to learn.
